25 Yamaha precision blend

I have a 1988 Yamaha 25lg precision blend outboard. ive been messing with it for days and can't seem to get spark. I'm pretty sure its the CDI pack and I want to get a new one but there 550$ new and I don't want to spend the money. The CDI pack for the regular 2 stroke ( not the precision blend ) is 89$ new. If I mixed my own fuel and bypassed the precision blend, would it be able to run?

I do not have an answer to what you are asking,
but I would be testing the inputs and out puts of the CDI to find where the problem is before spending money on parts
