Sorry for all of the dupe posts. Moderator, please delete them. When I attempted to post the message below, I kept getting an error message and I didn't think it was posting. I was wrong. On to my question.
This past weekend, I began having trouble with my 1992 Yamaha 200 hp. It kept shutting down because for the oil alarm. When I took the cowling off, I noticed that the resevoir inside was nearly empty. I figured I must have a sending unit going bad so we manually filled the resevoir and made it on home. However, I did notice that the motor was blowing what appeared to be unburned oil out the exhaust.
When I cranked it the next day, it again seemed to be burning extra oil as there was a lot of smoke. There was also oil in the exhaust. I also noticed that exhaust seemed to be coming out of the front of the lower unit foot instead of out of the propeller, although some exhaust was coming out there as well. Again, there was unburned oil in the water.
Any ideas what I'm dealing with?
