What is this part?

I took the cover off my 2007-F250 Yamaha and found this part laying in the bottom cowling. The part is round with three prongs. Looks like some sort of electrical connection. I don't see where it came from. I have taken three pictures showing the part from different angles. The part is about the size of a quarter. Anyone know what it is?

The oil pump as replaced last year

The engine was leaking oil and the oil pump and seals were replaced last year. Could it have been left over from that work?

I found the part in the cowling on the right side of the engine just in front of the oil dip stick.

Quite common to get parts left over when reassembling, particularly screws and bolts

Check your invoice for the work done. Highly unlikely the sender(s) were not replaced because there would be oil or water everywhere and you would have known about it long before now!

Noticed no leaks when I took the boat out of water

The invoice doesn't show a sensor replaced.

I took the boat out of the water to perform a routine service. I did not notice any oil or water leaks when the boat was in the water.

I did get an alarm when using the boat several weeks before. I stopped the engine raised the foot out of the water and opened the lid. I saw nothing out of the ordinary. I lowered the motor, replaced the lid and restarted and no alarm.

Guts Out of the Oil Pressure Sensor

Thanks for the help. rodbolt17 was right on, the part turned out to be the guts from the oil pressure sensor. Dealer installed a new one. Dealer said this part could not be fixed had to be replaced, $250.00 parts and labor. It was probably broken when the oil filter was replaced. It mounts very close to the filter. FYI, I am attaching a picture of the plastic which this part came out of.

Lucky you investigated, and also lucky more damage wasn't done leading to oil loss.
The engine should have interpreted low or no oil pressure (?), so you will need to check your system that should have told you this, or at least it should have told you that something was wrong! (did it?); otherwise a new oil pressure switch will not alert you in the future if something goes wrong.

I did received an alarm

I received an alarm last time I ran the engine. When the engine gave an alarm, I stopped the engine raised it out of the water and took off the cover. The engine was not hot and I did not see any leaks. I then put the engine down, fired it up and no alarm. I returned to the dock without an further alarms. Just happened to find the guts to the oil pressure sensor when I was servicing the engine.

While they were replacing the oil sensor, I had the dealer put the engine on the computer and print out the hours and error codes. The oil pressure sensor was the only error noted.
