  • Rough at idle

Our 225 (2005 version) ran a little rough (missing) at 1000 rpm after coming back from a fishing trip (full load in the boat). Ran fine at the dock at 800 rpm. Then took it out and ran fine. FYI filters show no water in fuel. Also I did put ring free in the tank.

Is this something I should be concerned about? If so where should I start?

I thought that was not available to anyone but a dealer, or maybe it was some other product.
I hate not remembering properly if I am wrong

A memory/mind is a terrible thing to have lost. The good part is maybe not remembering what it was that no longer is.

Getting old is a bitch. Is my mind simply leaving me due to age or is it possible stuff from the 60's/70's is causing my demise. Had I known I would live this long I would have taken better care of myself.

Now what is this thread about? Oh, the magic joojoo stuff that is double secret when it comes to customers getting their hands on it.

It is Yamaha Internal Engine Cleaner.

        I think. Don't really remember.

Thanks Boscoe, Yamaha Internal Engine Cleaner is what I was thinking of I guess.
You have to wonder what the difference between those products are.

The Internal Engine Cleaner is some nasty and possibly harmful stuff. Plus it takes a special tool to apply it. Apparently Yamaha does not feel it suitable for use by the average yahoo. Who might be prone to inhaling a bit of the stuff and then wanting to sue for damages.

            Yamaha Internal Engine Cleaner
Yamaha Internal Engine Cleaner will remove harmful carbon deposits and other contaminates from the combustion chamber and exhaust tracts of 2 and 4-stroke outboard engines when injected at the prescribed rate.
Application will require the Inject-A-Flush Apparatus (9210) with “S” nozzle (9206). This product is intended for use only by an authorized Yamaha Marine dealer using proper equipment and following all safety precautions.

Note the gloves and the mask and air filter on the guy using this stuff.

I need to get me some of that stuff.
You think it is worse than the carbontet or clorithain ( I cannot spell so excuse me)we use to use to clean electrical switch gear with before they said it was bad for you?
I breathed in and absorbed through my skin more than I care to think about

I remember the stuff of which you speak. Carbon tetrachloride. Got my pants dry laundered with the stuff before it was banned.

I also remember bathing in MEK and other such chemicals. Don't think you can even get them anymore.

And then I put lead in my mouth. Closed lead sinkers with my teeth. Pulled bullets from cartridges with my teeth.

Used to pull insulation from pipes under the breezeway at school in the fifties and I can almost bet it was asbestos.

Oh, and we used to play with Mercury by rolling it around in our hands. Spill a bit today and it is a Haz Mat issue.

Maybe the dope from the sixties and seventies wasn't as bad as all of the other stuff.

My memory is not what it used to be.

I use to hold the lead pellets in my mouth when hunting as a young person.
and still do from time to time but it is only to walk out the back door for a minuet or so holding the spares chasing away the tree rats now a days.
and I coated silver dimes and quarters with mercury until my fingers turned dark.
We are still around, so makes you think about what all they say about what is bad for everyone.

Why were you pulling the insulation from the piping?

No real reason at all. I remember seeing some of it hanging loose so me and another fool started picking at it and pulling it off the pipes. Nothing else to do I suppose.

We wore boots to school. We had skin kicking contests during recess. Or played mumbly peg with our pocket knives. Which weren't banned back then. Something to do.

It was only many years later I even heard about asbestos and the need to leave it alone. Maybe the Mercury, the lead and the asbestos all counter-acted each other and cancelled out the harm.

Appears to have not fected me, fected me, fected me,...
