  • F100 power head removal

So I'm removing the power head to resolve a water in the crankcase issue. I've gotten everything loose, but when I lift the unit, it moves up about a half inch then stops. I've wiggled the flywheel, put it in gear and wiggled the prop, no avail. It seems loose, wobbles quit a bit. But now it won't go up, or down.

Any ideas? I have both Seloc and Oem manuals, pretty sure I've disconnected everything.

    Thanks for any help,
    Jeff

Have you removed the shift linkage

maybe drive shaft is rusted into/binding in crank
or there might be a drive shaft busing in middle section that is binding things up.
      Just some thoughts

The drive shaft bushing will not be a problem, the shaft stays in the leg, there a couple of possibles, drive shaft stuck in head, something not removed/undone, shift linkage seized in join near gear case.

So as it turns out, it's a whole easier to lift the powerhead if you drop the lower unit first! You have to lift perfectly straight up, or it ain't coming off. Thanks for the help!
