YDS, version 1.33, diagnostic question

Good idea.. I'm sure there's something there about saving a screen.

I'm sure I have a couple of "rev's in neutral" codes I'll clear..

once you figure it out, print some screen shots or what ever you can save and put the print outs in you manual. never know when the puter will give up the ghost and you loose what data you have on it

Well, plugged everything in, opened up the software app (with the USB port (checked all of them). The engine is NOT communicating with the lap top.

It had me re-install the disc for updates which I did, still not communicating.

I'm thinking (with reading how to operate), a setting needs to be changed in the computer.

If not, any idea's are welcome...

Scott, you have to go into the Windows "Device Manager" settings,

find the "COM Port" settings, for "USB Serial Port"

change that to COM 1

Believe it is Com 1. The key has to be ON If I remember correctly so the USB port reads the dongle or whatever the damn thing is called...

Ok.... he is the link to where you can download the latest USB drivers for the YDIS Dongle. Its obvious as to which download to select.

Try the com 1 first before downloading anything else.

This is where the guru would be nice to have...

Just went to those settings, and didn't find where to change it.

I did just e-mail my buddy with a snip about changing that port, etc (see attached) as I think that's (the same your talking about) issue...

Now the cord has only the USB port (why the below pic shows the other adapter too, dunno, but that's how it came)

He does remotes all the time from Colorado, he's just super busy....

Re downloading the latest version, I gather to the computer program installed itself?

The program, wanted the disc installed and updated(which I did do).
I don't know why it would want the disc???

I run Windows 7. Obviously not the latest. I didn't download anything.
He can help you. When you get the "aha" moment, write it down for future reference. If my boat was here I could futz with it....

Well I would think the updates would load direct to my laptop and the Yamaha YDS program, no?

If so and anyone has a link, I'd appreciate it. I am using Windows 10...

I bought the kit 1-18-16 thru BRP Australia. (The link was posted here). Just did a quick search and couldn't them.

If anyone knows about the 1.33 version and Windows 10, plz advise(or post a link, I'll do some more digging.)

My YDS 1.33 works perfectly on my 2010 F150 (which has the latest #38 ECM)... if you are running windows 10 operating system on your laptop you might have to download the latest chipset drivers ( chipset thats in the dongle) to get it to communicate.... if you have probs... PM me ... will be glad to help
