I have a 2001 9.9ELRZ four stroke which is powering my sailboat. I have dual remote controls, one being in the pilothouse and the other in the ****pit.
When in the ****pit, I can push the start button on the engine to start, but the only way I can find to stop the engine is by pulling the emergency lanyard. The manual indicates the engine stop button can be pushed, but this is incorrect as there's only an emergency stop switch which is activated by pulling the lanyard connector.
It's a pain to have to pull the lanyard and re-connect it whenever I want to stop the engine. The pilothouse control have a key, but I don't see a stop switch on the motor other than the emergency stop switch.
Am I missing something or is there a way to fit a push button stop switch to the motor, perhaps replacing the emergency stop switch?
Thanks.
