Looking for Boscoe99: What year is my 15MSH

You/ve been recommended to solve my problem: My Yamaha 15 serial # is:
684K S 1057789 J. I bought it new about 8 years ago. Everyone tells me it's a '89. The controls are mounted on the front of the engine. I'm sure they didn't do that in '89.

Is the model a 15MSH? Are you in the USA? Are your initials BL?

Looks to me that it is a production year 2007 motor. Should have a sticker on the right hand side of the motor (clamp bracket) with 03/07 on it which indicates the production month and year. Here is an example of what the sticker will look like, however the numbers will be different on yours.

If anyone at Iboats or anywhere else says that is an '89 model they are misinformed. Go to the other side of the motor from where the decal is that gives the serial number. You should find a sticker with 03/07 on it.

There was no model 15MSH in 1989. Sold in the USA that is.

Does the name Ledonne ring a bell? First name of Bryan.

And I posted that they did not list a 15 MSH motor in 1989, so not everyone was saying it was a 89

Motor has a decal indicating it was sold my Sunrise Marine in East Palatka, Florida.

Motor was sold to a customer in Palatka, Florida. First name Bryan. OP's name is Bry.

When I got back to the boat, I looked for that other sticker but there's nothing; inside or outside the cover

But I guess it could have come off

remember in 06 Yamaha dropped the last alpha character that used to denote year model.
I don't have my books with me but a dealer can search the pid.
