  • Engine mounting height. Should I go up more?

    image.jpg

Pic of boat running on plane at correct trim. These are twin engines mounted on a bracket. Are these engines mounted at the right height? Seems like I should go up but want the experts to chime in before I do anything. Thanks in advanced. By the way sorry for the bad pic.

    Looks low to me.

Go up a bolt hole at a time until something adverse happens. Might be the propeller ventilates before the motor can be trimmed up to the optimum trim angle. Then go back down one bolt hole.

Here is a photo showing the objective.

      Looks low.....
Unless it was dead calm while on plane when you took that picture it could be misleading.

What are your RPM's at WOT?
If they are sitting low you will have a ton of extra drag...
Use a prop calculator (Mercury Marine has a good one) with your boat info and see if you come close to what it predicts for speed and RPM.
