  • Unrealistic number for Throttle Valve Opening F115XB

I have a Yamaha F115XB I think year 2016. No concerns with the engine’s performance. It cranks easy, idles good and runs good up to a bit over 5000 rpm.

I obtained a copy of YDS 1.33 and diagnostic cable from eBay (took me a while to find the port on the engine - your forum helped me locate it ). I used the diagnostic software for the first time this weekend to make sure I could figure out how to use it and check the engine hours which is 116.

All the live engine date seems within spec except the Throttle Valve Opening reads 7992.7 and does not fluctuate with changing RPM. All the information I could find on an abnormal reading were people with negative degrees like -3.5 or so. This seems to be a software issue or a sensor problem. I could find no similar problems in your forum.

My guess would be a software issue.

An F115XB model is intended to be used with YDIS version 2.12.

1.33 is the original software for circa 2006 model year motors.

Oops. And there you have it. I’ll see about getting the correct software. Thanks a bunch.

i at least know for sure how many hours it has now.
