this is not a place to be posting looking for buying used parts.
Posting phone # or e mail in open forums is not the thing to do either

I would hate to have to be pull starting a three cylinder 40 HP motor. Always wished I had had an electric starter on my two cylinder 25 HP Merc.

The flywheel has been superceded to a different part number. That part number is available. Unfortunately it has a list price of over 600 bucks. P/N is 63D-85550-00-00.

Then you need the starter motor. Maybe a new wire harness. God only knows what else you will need. Maybe a starter switch and a neutral safety switch as well.

Average retail value per NADA of a 40SF is about 600 bucks. Good luck finding anyone that wants an old two stroke motor. Value is less than the price of the flywheel. Only you can decide for yourself but most might not think that it makes sense to spend more money on a motor than it is worth. You get it all modified and then something else breaks. Something that might no longer be made or available. Most would sell the manual start motor and buy an electric start version.

      Good luck in your endeavors.

I kind of think no one in their right mind would pay $2K for a 26 year old 40, but good luck looking

Here a last model of a 40 2 strk electric start/PPT in good working order worth +/- 1000€

Even some Yamaha dealers when someone doing a repower for a 4 strk they don´t want to receive a 2 strk motor anymore.
