Hi I need assistance with two issues..
Let's start of by saying I'm a novice on motors in general so please bear with me..
I have a 1993 70 HP 2stroke, it requires full throttle and choke to start and sometimes it dies while backing up, but once I've given it gas in forward it never dies.
However, when I go low speed to tro ll for fish for an hour or so it feels a bit off, it doesn't go as fast on same throttle speed and it just sounds a bit off compared to normal for the few 1-2 minutes almost like it's fueled starved is my novice guess.- What to check for?
Been a few months since I checked comp so might remember the number bit off but they were all within 5 and if I remember correctly, about 125.
Checked sparks with tester and seems good, I've changed all plugs either way.
I have new washers for lower unit oil on both drainplugs but I have waterleak somewhere in my lower unit since it's milky, where should I look first for leak most likely?
I saw you can pressure check it but that tool at least for my country seems to cost about 500$ which I'm not feeling like spending to check for a leak on a 1000-2000$ motor(in my country).
From what I've seen changing the two seals on the prop ax isn't that hard with just basic tools like screws crowbar and pvc pipe to bang into place.. maybe start there?
If fuel pump is the issue, can I refurbish it or do I have to replace it?
I once replaced the fuel line between the tank and motor but should I replace all the internal fuel lines?
I've cleaned a carb or two before but carb cleaning seems a bit scary when you have to get them all to sync up, am I just overthinking it?
Talked to local marinea shop they wanted 100$ per carb clean and that's just the cleaning, not including gaskets, seems a bit excessive?
Could the water in lower unit oil affect that it dies when backing up or is that irrelevant?
