  • C60ELRU Throttle Linkage

    I have a C60ELRU.
I have manual Lit - 18616-01-39. It lists C60U on the cover.
The diagram of the throttle sensor control link says it should be 129+/-0.5mm however even fully extended mine is not that long. It also shows the throttle cam connecting to a different location and again, the length recommended (58mm) seems very different than the link in the engine (89mm+/-). Even the timing indicator is different, as the manual shows it above the throttle sensor control link but on mine the indicator is below. Is there another model of throttle linkage? Can you recommend the manual I should purchase? Better yet, can anyone provide the recommended linkage lengths as everything else in the manual seems fine.

I looked myself and did not see a C60ELRU

but I would think it would be the same as the TLRU and the list shows the same manual he listed

It is a great list....I used it to find the manual I purchased. As 99yam40 stated, the is no C60ELRU on the list so I picked the one for the C60TLRU. It has been correct for all aspects of the lower unit, tilt trim (except for one seal) and electrical. Even the carbs in the manual look like mine, it is just the linkage that is different.
Is there a way to link and sync without knowing the factory recommended linkage lenghts?

So this is a 1996 engine and you are located where?

I believe so. As stated above, the manual I purchased lists the C60 on the cover (as well as P60U, 70U, P75U and 90U) and it has been bang on accurate on every other aspect of the engine that I have worked on.
I have been going through all the other model numbers for 60 hp in the list Sticky posted and looking on the parts sites to see if I can find a linkage similar to the configuration in mine but so far, no luck.
I attached a photo of the engine tag above in case I am reading it wrong.
I am in New Brunswick, Canada. I purchased the engine from a fellow in PEI, Canada.

I think my search of the parts supplier site may have paid off.
When I looked at the exploded parts view of the E60MLHU, it seems like it may have my style linkage. Hard to tell from the view provided.
According to the list of manuals, this should be Yamaha Outboard Service Manual LIT-18616-01-29 (as opposed to LIT 18616-01 39 that I purchased). Is there any way to find out if the recommended linkage lengths in the 29 manual are approx 125mm and 90mm before I make the purchase?
If anyone does have access to the 29 manual in pdf, it should be very close to p 44 of 204, Periodic Maintenance

I am in Atlantic Canada as well. Did you look and see if you can find the parts manual on the Canadian site?

                      LIT-18616-01-39 covers the model C60ELRU.

So if I have the correct manual and the linkage does not match, what does a professional do next?
I turned both linkages to approximately halfway through the treads. I then followed the steps in the manual and the engine is now starting great. As a complete novice, I find it unlikely that I was able to set this by eye ....but it does seem to be running quite well
