Throttle grinding after drive install

dropped drive too change upper & lower seals ,
shifter seal
impeller
gear oil

when removed throttle was in N - prior too dropping drive no grinding when shifting

did not move shifter while changing seal plus not easy too move

installed - fired up and now I have a slight grind in F , louder in R
dropped drive 1/2 dz times , drive supported by tie down straps so I can drop just enough too get fingers , tool , and view whats going on ,
I must be off a spline , twisted drive , no change

working myself

have help coming over so I will have another set of hands

should one person move throttle slightly or something else

it moves from N when you install it. do it again. and for me, a helper for lower unit installation is not helpful

did you hold up on the drive shaft when you installed the wavy washers and plates to preload the gears.
not sure if this is your problem ,but have read there is some kind of noise if you do not do this
