no,command link uses the white 4 pin that has a blue and white wire only.
then you uncap the pink trim leads that are wrapped in yellow tape and plug them together.

what I would do is remove the pin from the connector, solder on my send wire and heat shrink it, that way I could reverse it if needed. and NO splices .

    but that's just me.

I would remove the pin from the connector but instead of cutting, soldering, etc. I would get a socket to which the pin is inserted. Install that socket on the end of the wire you ran from the motor to the helm. Slide some heat shrink over the wire. Plug the pin into the socket. Slide the heat shrink over the pin/socket and shrink it down goodntite. This way it can be returned to the production configuration in the future if and when needed.

Rodbolt, That's what I'm going to do.

I'll get the command link after a while. The engine still has 4.5 yrs warranty anyways. Free 100 hr service hasn't been performed.

Thanks for your help guys. I highly appreciate it.

          no worries,
just be aware that command link wont show oil pressure.
your motor uses a switch not a sensor.
its ether on or its off.

Sounds like a good idea Boscoe. Finding a single pin plug for that style shouldn't be to hard. I could do what rodbolt suggests as well. I could always get the solder off the pin later and return it too. Both are better than splicing.
