years ago the 5.0/5.7 chebbys shared the same casting numbers on the cranks.
they were balanced differently.
other than balancing they were dimensionally identical.
About the only Yamaha outboard motor part that I have ever seen with a complete part number on it is a main engine wire harness. Most other parts will have maybe just the model code prefix on it, with possibly a another number or letter. Some parts will have nil markings at all.
Use the parts catalog to your advantage. Find the part number for the 1999 crankshaft. It is 67F-11411-00-00. Now look at the part number for the last available F100 here in the USA. A 2003 F100TLRB. Crank shaft part number for it is also 67F-11411-00-00. Which indicates there have been no part number changes between 1999 and 2003.
But there has been one design change somewhere along the way. If you were to order a 67F-11411-00-00 crank shaft what you would get is part number 67F-11411-01-00. The -01-00 means there has been a minor change but that change will not affect form, fit or function. You can use either the -00-00 or the -01-00 crank shaft.
Since Yamaha chose in their infinite wisdom not to put part number on the crank shaft, the only way to know for sure is if the paper work for the crank shaft says that it is either a -00-00 or a -01-00. Buying used parts will certainly save some money but there is always a risk that you might not get what you think you are getting.
