  • HPDI flush adapter

Any one out there use one of the high priced adapters. I got tired of filling a gigantic tub of water in order to start my 250 hpdi at the house so I broke down and bought one of these flush adapters. I attached the adapter to the nose of the lower unit with the built in bungee. Started the water, started the engine, no water from the tell tale. I tried adjusting the flush adapter several times but was afraid to let it run for more than a few seconds. When in the tub the water comes out of the telltale relatively quickly. Is there a trick to using these tools?

BTW, your link goes to some web site, NOT a flush adapter..

Im not the original owner and the hpdi have a unique flush adapter (on the nose vs the sides). I like to start the engine after maintenance and before heading out for a day on the water to make sure everything is working.

I don't really know of your device; it sounds to me like you're forcing water up the water outlet and exhaust.
Could it be a collector bag reducing water mess by leading it away?

It appears to fit over the nose of the LU (about $85.00 too!!)

From the 2014 Yamaha Parts catalog:

I don't know if there's any secrets to it, only if you have enough water pressure /water volume to it...

Took me a half hour to find that!!!!

From what I read, it just slips over the nose cone of the lower unit, the bungee cord wraps / pulls / holds it on the nose. That lower unit apparently has the water pick up ONLY in the nose, nothing on the sides (like most LU's).

Apparently it doesn't fit a very tight from what I'm reading here.....

For the OP, if your loosing lots of water, perhaps attaching some sort of split hose (1/4" ?) around the outer edge of the tool to take up any large gaps(siliconed on / secured somehow)?

why not simply unthread the Yamaha flush coupling from the lower pan.
                  screw your hose to it.

turn the water on full pressure.

                  wait\
                  wait WAIT.\
till water is flowing OUT of the water intake screen.
                  \
then simply light it off and run it.
                  \
                  it aint roooket seeeance.
