The sensor switch being closed (float up) in the remote tank tells the CDI there is sufficient oil in the tank to allow for the automatic transfer of oil.
If the sensor switch is open (float down; low oil but not out) the CDI will stop the automatic transfer of oil. No alarm is given. But if you have a Yamaha tachometer it will indicate that the remote tank is low and needs to be refilled.
Once the main tank is refilled, automatic transfer will be enabled again.
The main oil tank sensor switch assembly has three switches. Top switch tells the CDI the tank is full and to stop the automatic transfer of oil. Middle switch tells the CDI the tank is down on oil and to refill it. The bottom switch tells the CDI the tank is almost out of oil.
The bottom switch closing due to low oil will cause the alarm to sound and the motor to go into RPM reduction mode. If a Yamaha tachometer is in use it will indicate low oil in the main tank.
