    Oh, reading your post again you mentioned water droplets . You could alleviate some anxiety if you were able to test whether it is fresh or salt water. Dip finger and taste.
    If not salty, sigh, and perhaps check out the flushing that you do.

      you may wish to ask the mechanic if they disassembled the oil pan,changed/cleaned the strainer and CHECKED the OIL PAN surfaces???

      a warped oil pan will leak and water can get in,plastic strainers can worp if overheated.

      remember the powerhead adapter,the oil pan and the muffler are ALL water cooled.

      if you got it hot enough to damage the engine it most likely also damaged the oil pan assy.

        Rodbolt, parts you referred to were all replaced in the rebuild, I was thinking bad oil pan gasket, but I was told definitively by Yamaha field rep that oil could only leak in this scenario, and that the reverse of water intrusion is not possible, which doesn't make much sense to me.

          totally and completely wrong information.

          having done a few over the years that did not leak oil out but did leak water in.

          only takes about .004" warpage.
