I got a question, I have a 1997 20hp 2 stroke yamaha outboard and went for a ride in a deep enough river going approx. 5km/h for 5-10 minutes. The motor then shut off on me and I was unable to crank it over (I thought it was seized). I took the cover off and it was radiating lots of heat so thinking it overheated. I was able to crank it over once it cooled off in the lake but it didn't want to start so I paddled back to the launch haha.
I was able to start the engine the next morning and it was running completely fine. No hiccups and seems like everything is good. Only thing I noticed is that the lower part of the engine, where the exhaust manifold touches the bottom cowling is leaking hot water when revving in neutral, which seems abnormal to me. Is it just that specific gasket or am I missing something?
The tell-tale is pushing strong but it's cold water.
Thanks a lot.
