225 4 stroke year 2003

I have a new to me 225 4 stroke that pumps water out the telltale when running , but when I fresh water flush nothing comes out the telltale only the lower end. Any thoughts?

Completely normal. There is simply an insufficient volume of water being provided to the motor.

Now what you can do is to buy a Y fitting from Home Depot. While there get a short piece of garden hose. They sell it in about 5 foot lengths.

Put the Y on the end of your hose. Install the flush muffs into one leg of the Y. Install the garden hose onto the other leg of the Y. Run the short piece of hose to the garden flush fitting on the side of the motor. You will now be providing more water to the motor and in two places. Turn the spigot to the wide open position. Start the motor. I bet you will see what coming from the tell tale.
