My 2017 F.9.9 4 stroke motor died on me on the water. Has new fuel line, filter, tank, rebuilt carb, fuel pump, use non ethanol and I always run the fuel out of motor after every use. The day before started and idled fine. Went on the water the next day and once in gear and on plane it completely shut off after 15 seconds. Almost like I pulled the kill switch. Wont start at all. Gives random spurts like it wants to but smoke just shoots out of carb air intake. Any ideas. TIA

You need to do the very basics, does it have spark? What do the plugs look like? Wet or dry? Does it have compression? Is the safety clip/lanyard still in place? Is there water in the fuel? Is the fuel primer bulb still firm or flat? Is the tank air vent open/clear? -
It does have spark. Plugs were decent, replaced a couple of months ago. Were wet. Lanyard still in place. No water in fuel. Bulb firm. Tank vent open. Havent checked compression as of yet.Comment
