After 7 years of service, my Yamaha fuel management gauge stopped reading MPG when the economy mode is selected. All the other functions on the gauge related to fuel flow (GPH) and consumption (TTL) are working fine. I already confirmed the GPS signal is present at the rear input connector. I cleaned and reset the connector just in case and also toggled the rear DIP switches out and back into GPS mode.
The problem is the gauge now shows "-" when the engine is running instead of the MPG. I found out the gauge will initially read 0.0 for about a couple of seconds when the ignition switch is turned on and then it will constantly display "-". I will try cleaning and re-seating the other connections to the Tach, Speedo, and ground to see if that works. Has anyone here seen this problem before? What is the reliability of the round Yamaha Fuel Management gauge as it pertains to MPG? I suspect the gauge MPG function might have gone bad.
