Repowered to yamaha and want digital tach for VF225LA four stroke 2015

Does anyone know what part numbers needed to fit a 2015 VF225LA SHO four stroke on TR20 That has analogue gauge now, repowered from mercury to Yamaha.

1. Get a compatible DIGITAL TACH - which tach can be used (command link or ?)

2. TACH HARNESS. Need tach harness to gear control, maybe two feet distance, thanks.


2a. Is this the correct harness number to connect the gauge to a four stroke: 6Y5-83553-NO-00

These are listed all over which fits this motor and which harness to get:

Come to find out that you can not use the harness off of the 6X3 THROTTLE/GEAR LEVER to hook up a 6Y8 command link - Hub or a 6Y8- 8350T-20 tachometer. Back to the drawing board. They said only the 6Y5 versions would work.

repower command link kit answer

The rigging book does not show a command kit for the installation of a command link system for a "bass boat" using a 6x3 gear shift lever system. After numerous phone calls, emails and several days of web surfing finally was told that the "Command link system" for this setup requires a kit. The kit to be used is 6Y8-OE83R-81-00. It contains these items:

Right there on page 2-8.

A 6X3 control box is the same as the 704 box from a rigging standpoint. There are simply too many combinations for Yamaha to depict each and every one of them.
