Rigging up question.

Replaced a 1984 Evinrude with a 2003 Yamaha 40 and I'm not sure if the controls are correctly installed.When I lift the fast idle lever it never really does anything to change the carb settings.

are you using Yamaha controls and cables?

fast idle

if that motor is a two storke,, the fast idle arm only moves the timing advance bar.....nothing on the carb...very common car mech mistake...LOL

Make sure the throttle cable is moving at the motor and watch what all linkage moves
