If you took all of the ECU, harnesses, and control mechanisms off of an F300, would they bolt onto a 200-250 vmax sho? Alternatively, could you bolt a compete F300 powerhead on a vmax sho midsection?

It looks like the shift rod in the midsection would be the most problematic. Also, what is different about the part of the shift rod mounted in the lower unit from a short to long shaft? Seems to me that part would be the same.
