is there an alternative part number to the thermostat for this engine
the number on the housing is 6H4 but I cant trace this anywhere any help appreciated

The prefix for the housing will not necessarily correlate with the prefix for the thermostat itself. A 6H4 prefix indicates the housing was first used on a 40 HP model but that does not mean it was not used on a 25 HP.

Have you talked to your local dealer about getting the part number for the thermostat, or the thermostat itself?

What is the complete identity of your motor? A 25NEO is not offered here in the USA so it will not be available in our parts catalogs. If we can find a USA equivalent model then more than likely the thermostat part number will be one and the same.

Maybe Mr. Almetelo of Portugal can tell us.

6E5-12411-02 is the thermostat for a 1989 25NEO. If you let us have the full serial number for the engine I can narrow it down. The earlier model used a 6E5-12411-00.

Most of the housings for that motor were the 6L2. That was a Euro model only.
