Changes to F70

I am considering a new F70 for my boat. The current model designation is F70LA.

It has been suggested on another forum that changes have been made to the F70 since it was first introduced more than 10 yers ago, and the “A” model incorporates those changes. What changes have been made to the F70 by Yamaha since this particular motor was first introduced?

The F70LA was introduced as the F70LA. That is, there was no F70L without the letter A. The A model if you want to call it that, was the very first.

First F70LA model was dated March 2010. The F70LA produced in 2022 is the same model identity. However, there may be a number of components within the motor itself that have been upgraded for any one of numerous reasons.

As a bit of triva, Yamaha now offers an F70LA2. The number 2 denotes that it is painted white.
