  • How to add an additional Y-Cop Remote?

Okay ... I am new to this forum.

    Here is my issue:

    I have a Y-Cop installed in my outboard (Yamaha F300 V6 4.2L).
I have decided to add an extra transmitter (remote).
I purchased the remote from Boats.net, but the remote came with no instructions.
My boat is in the outer islands of the Bahamas, and I need instructions on how to add a remote to an already installed Y-Cop.
I still have the 2 original remotes, which work perfectly.
Can anyone provide me with instructions on how to add an additional remote?

    Thanks!

    Mario

You are welcome. Or, as the kids say "no problem".

He created his own post and provided his engine model. That made it so easy.

Now where is my easy button.

I apologize if this is a hijack, but can you please repost these instructions boscoe? The link is no longer working.

              Thanks

My guess is that it was the instructions on programming a new remote?

Many car alarms will do that by turning the key a certain number of times and pressing certain buttons. Several require two already programmed transmitters in order to add a third.

bet that was not for an outboard that can dissapear very quickly, and do so every day.
my bet is they make it a lot harder to set up than auto keys and fobs.
that is why you need a dealer

Sorry, but I wasn't very clear.

You need two valid transmitters that have already been keyed into the system in order to add a third transmitter. It would not be easy...unless you have both transmitters that are already matched with the system.

My Jeep's factory key/alarm fob works like that. If I lose one of the keys, I would have to go to the dealer to get a new one linked up. If I have both operating fobs, then I can add a third one to the system without the $100 dealer fee.

all I am saying is the outboard is not likely the same as alarms and autos
