Of course there is, called a carb base gasket or oring, and if it's not there or leaking you will have running issues,

I went to the Yam parts catalog and damn if I could find a seal, gasket or any part that is used between the carburetor and the reed valve assembly. Looked at an SM and also no part is shown. I wonder if this is why the OP is asking.

      The French are strange.

Might have to go a year up or down, but there is a seal of some kind.

Exactly the problem i,m having, i get my spares from a company called Pacermarine and they could not find any mention of a gasket for this engine.
I thought there had to be a gasket so joined this forum for info.

This is for an engine i got which i have no idea of the history. it starts ok with revs on but not in the starting position, when i take revs of it stops. I checked all the usual possible causes and everything seemed to be fine so i took off the carbourator and there was no main seal between the carb and engine, there was some residue of instant gasket so i think the previous owner has had this problem of not finding a gasket for this engine.
Do you know a part number for this gasket?
