  • Z250 Vmax high oil consumption

A friend of mine got a Z250 Vmax, runs well and no problems.
but this season it has started to consume very much oil.

    any ideas?

    Cheers Erik

    Possibly oil pump.

However their output doesn't increase with age.

Check linkage to pump as it may be on full setting, could come about by it being disconnected. Check that plastic ball coupling hasn't split or stripped, if so cable ties can hold the halves together on the thread.

Others might say what is he talking about?.

I have seen the seal behind the oil pump fail, it requires a new pump,

        thanks for quick response

i assume you guys are talking about the mechanical pump? and not the "oil-plunger" pump?

I would expect that both are speaking of the mechanically driven oil pump. Certainly it is the only one that is adjustable to provide a greater flow of oil when the throttle is opened.

The electric oil pump that feeds a minuscule amount of oil to the VST does not have the volume such that one would see excessive oil consumption.
