  • tach wiring at engine..yam 40B

there are 2 green wires running from alternator to rectyfier..
the green cable from harnas is connected (with a splitter-cable)to ONE of them...is this correct ore should it be connected to both of them???
there's no typenumber on my tach...but it is an yamaha analoge with3 settings 4 /6 /12..
so far tach read only 300rpm on all settings no matter how fast the engine runs...
is there some "know how" in the world??
the dealer had no idee....( engine just back from service)...
    greetings from Holland:

You only need to connect to one of the green wires to get a tach signal. I don't have any information on the Euro motors but if it's a newer 40hp motor it would probably use the 6 pole setting, the older ones used the 4 pole setting.
