I have a 2016 yamaha 115 with 350 hours on the motor. Yesterday I ran it for 7-8 miles at 4,000 rpm and the motor stalled out but didn't die. It idled perfectly. I slowly increased rpm and got back up to 4,000. After just 2 minutes the stalling/stuttering loss of rpm kicked in again. I *****ed at 1700 rpm for several hours. On my way home I ran at 4,000 rpm for 4-5 miles and the problem repeated itself. Dropping to idle for several minutes and the engine would run at 4,000 again for just a few minutes. I changed fuel filters and new spark plugs with the same results today. Help ?

test you gauge lights and buzzer to make sure they are working properly
could be the motor is telling you it has a problem, and your warning system (lights & Buzzer) are not working -
99yam makes a good suggestion,
your symptoms may fit an engine overheat condition:
when temperature becomes excessive,
the ECM will cause a misfire to drop rpm to below ~2,000
but when that happens, your warning horn should sound,
and if you have a gauge or display with indicators,
the overheat indicator will flash.
To find out whether or not your warning horn works,
pull the safety lanyard,
and then turn the key to try and start the engine;
it will not start,
but you should hear the warning horn blare.
