  • 2005 F225 altenator Output specs

I have a 2005 Yamaha F225 from what I read on some internet post the alt puts out 45A max, however they are stating that only 27amps are available for charging batteries the other 18 amps are apparently used by the engine itself. Is this true if anybody knows.

Yes, its "a 45 amp alternator"
    - the max it can generate, which occurs > 3000 rpm

~2.5 goes to the lift pump,
~4.5 for the high pressure pump
plus spark coils, injectors, which increases with rpm
    and the ECM/sensors take some

I can't recall seeing a Yamaha published "net output value" for the 2005 F225

There is a published 27 amp net value for the later 3.3 F225A
but that has oil control valves for the VCT
and twice the number of spark coils

My suspicion is the original F225 then is higher than 27 amps
    but can't state with certainty

    Perhaps Boscoe has that info...

What I have seen from Yamaha is not consistent with respect to current values. But clearly there is a gross output and a net output.

Gross being what the alternator is capable of producing. Net being what is available for supply to the boat.
