  • 1991 ProV200 Coughing/Sneezing?????

My motor is coughing/sneezing when at idle, occasionally stalling. Does anyone have a solution for this? I have heard it may be a running lean, but not sure how to adjust that.
    Thanks,
    Jeff

Clean the carbs and fuel system and adjust as the Service manual calls for in specs.

    Cannot adjust away problems

Jeff I have the exact same engine. I went and bought a can of mercury power tune. I followed the instructions to the letter. Made a huge difference to the engine. Your plugs are fouled and the engine needs a clean. FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS TO THE LETTER!!!!! I cant stress this enough. It made a huge difference to my engine. You may need to idle the engine UP once you have completed the instructions. But It will be a different engine.

I have owned yamahas for 25 plus yrs, the Achilles heel of the two strokes is the carbs, when was the last time you cleaned the carbs? I would strongly suggest you have the carbs cleaned, a lean situation will burn a piston in short order.
