Help with 9.9 LU

I would very much appreciate any help/advice concerning this outboard. 1994 F9.9 that shows a leak during a pressure test at the shift boot. Both at the base of the boot as well as the top at the shifter rod. For anyone that knows....can I replace the boot without removing the rod itself and should the boot require any grease at the base when reinstalled?
Also..can I replace the grease seals under the water pump without removing the carrier which I believe is also the pump base plate? And ...can the propshaft seals be replaced as well, without removing the carrier?
