Yamaha 25hp 2 stroke Lower Unit Compatibility?

Hello,

I have been searching online and cannot seem to find an answer. I have a 1998 Yamaha 25 ELHX long shaft and I am looking for a replacement lower unit. I found one from a 1995 yamaha 25 hp long shaft, will it work on my motor?

click on the Yamaha parts at the top of the page and find your part number.
click on it and at the lower right side there will be an area that shows what other motors had that same part

The part numbers are exactly the same. Can there be any doubt that the two are 100% interchangeable?

I am looking for a lower unit for a 2006 25 hp twin carb two stroke. May I ask where you found yours? They are as scarce as hens teeth around Atlantic Canada...
