Damper seal orientation

Hi all, was wonder what the correct positiont the rubber seal needs to be in to achieve a proper seal, thanks.

if you are speaking of the exhaust damper seal behind the water pump the non flat side up and the curved side forward.
Sorta helps to be a bit more specific with location of seal and at least a model.

Yes it was the exhaust damper seal, sorry for not specifying. I got it thanks, it's a 91 225 outboard, giving it lots of tlc
