I have a 2003 200hp hpdi and i have been trying to trouble shoot it. The service manual i have says to measure the crank position sensor and the injector driver's peak voltage. Does my multimeter need to be in ac or dc? When I tried to test it in ac i get a reading and it shuts the motor off. Is that normal?

You will need to set your multi-meter to DC, do you have a peak voltage adapter? if not you can't measure peak voltage (some multi-meters have it built in)

The ones with it built in are special meters made for testing these outboard motors. Not may people have them unless bought just for testing OB motors.
DVA adapter will work with regular meters
