Will 2012 F225 power head fit on a 2005 leg/mid section

Hi there,

Im new to the site and wondering if any can let me know if a 2012 F225 power head will fit on a 2005 F 225 leg/mid section as my block has a bad corrosion problem.

from a quick look,
it seems like it will:
the part the engine block attaches to -
the "exhaust guide" - is the same from 2004 -2018 3.3L F225s


(although the 2005 was made with 69J-41137-02-94,
that now "supercedes" to 69J-41137-10-CA
same as used on the 2012)

To complicate matters, a 2012 F225 used a 6P2 block and 6P2 heads. A 2005 F225 used a 69J block and 69J heads.

If a 2012 "dressed" power head (all components installed) is used it probably will work. If a 2012 undressed power head is used (with the intention of using the 2005 F225 components) it is going to be a problem.

2005 F225 is a TXR or TUR model. 2012 F225 is an XA model. Mechanical throttle bodies on the former. Electronic throttle valve on the latter.

The power head I’m looking at is a F225XA which I think is a 3.3 litre. In theory the XA should bolt onto my 2005 3.3 litre midsection exhaust guide. I would install as dressed powerhead.

Do you see any issues with this and do I need additional wire harness for the electronic throttle Valve?

I note that the lower cowlings are different. Could be something to do with the way that the control cables are attached.
