Trim indicator on gauge indicates #2 when the engine is in the full down position. The lever on the engine moves freely, clean and lubercated. Is there a procedure to reset the trim calibration at the gauge?
What model is the motor? Some motors use a device to activate the trim sender arm. Some devices were made of plastic known to break. If the device breaks then there is nothing to move the sender arm when the motor trims up or down.
There is no recalibration procedure. The sender, wiring and tachometer either work or they don't.
Thank you, The engine is a vf200la sho, 2010 year. I will re-check the plastic sending arm for full movement. The gauge indicator works; it just starts at #2 which I can live with.
Is there an adjustment at the engine to adjust the travel of the sender?
The SHO uses a metal arm to move the sender. The metal arm is held onto the tilt shaft by the use of a screw. Loosen that screw. Rotate the metal arm so that when the motor is trimmed fully downward the trim gauge indicates full down trim. Tighten the screw. The trim gauge should now indicate the correct engine trim position.
