Hi, can anybody help me identify the year for an old Yamaha outboard? It is a Yamaha 55BE, 663 with serial number L311489. Some sites shows a B to be 2003 and others show the 663 model as a 1979. Which is correct and where can I find a diagram and/or parts list for it? Thank you.

I am seeing 311489 as a 1979 model year motor.
This is a USA website. Yamaha USA did not start distributing motors here until 1984.
The first 55 HP two stroke offered here in the US is the CV55ELF.
If you take a look at the parts catalog for the CV55ELF I suspect that you will find it to be very similar to your 55BE model. https://www.boats.net/catalog/yamaha...r/1989/cv55elf
When you are looking at the parts catalog for the CV55ELF take note that many of the part numbers begin with the prefix 663. The same as the prefix for your model. I would suspect that many of the parts for the US CV55ELF model will fit your 55BE model.
