  • Water temperature alert at 99 degrees with engines not running

My water temperature alert went off when the engines weren’t even in the water or running? It has been extremely hot here (90+ for several days) so is that what is causing the alarm? Is the water temperature alert for the temperature of the water it is in or something inside the motor? I read the manual and it says water separator alert or overheat alert but not the alert that came up on my screen. The boat is new to me so trying to learn more. Thank you.

no one but you know what motor you have.
overheat temp comes from inside the motor

we have no idea what alert you are getting

They are Yamaha 300”s and they were out of the water and not running. That is why I am confused

Yamaha started putting out 300s in 2004 I think and were 2 strokes. so you may need to get a little deeper in your out put of info

It is a 2018 motor. This is the message I am getting with no additional explaination.

What 99yam was trying to tell you all to nicely is that troubleshooting is model/year specific. If you don’t provide model/year, you wont get accurate troubleshooting advice. If you’re not sure of model, you’ll find the motor ID plate on port side bracket.

OK, "a picture is worth a thousand words".

              That's not a Yamaha alarm,
its got nothing to do with the engine
which would be reported as "engine temperature"

              that's a Garmin alarm -
referring to the temperature measured by the sonar transducer.

Go into your Garmin menu and disable the "water temperature" alarm

I’d love to hear Rodbolt’s comments on this!….Probably include something like, “stupidly simple”…..

Rodnut had lost his ability to remember and relate back to the time when he did not know.
