  • Outboard throttle lever loose (sideways movement)

    Hi. My throttle lever is loose in that it has sideways movement. It has always been good but I knocked it when putting the cover back on the boat yesterday and now there is some horizontal play. I removed the end cap, expecting to see a nut but there was none....it looks (refer to photos) like something may have sheared off on the threaded portion but I did not find any loose parts?? My questions are;

    - Should there be a nut to tighten?
    - If I loosen the screws, will this allow me to inspect behind? I am uncertain about this as I do not want to affect the throttle tighness etc, which has been good?
    - Does anyone have any suggestions how I can fix? If I push the throttle handle to the left, it works OK, but this is obviously not ideal.

    Thanks in advance for your help.

    It appears the single screw in the middle of the throttle arm will allow disengagement from the control box. Possible the arm and part #14 became disengaged. No harm in removing the arm to check it out.

      my guess is that 36 screws into 30
      if 30 is threaded ( I cannot tell) then it will need to be replaced
