By the way, the F40 carburetors are some of the most complex and difficult to clean. Carbs need to be fully disassembled and cleaned in a heated ultrasonic cleaner using a good cleaning solution.

Blow all passageways and maybe use a piece of soft copper wire to rod out any orifices. Count the number of turns for the idle mixture jet before you remove it from the carburetor.

A vacuumate will help to synchronize the carburetors after they are reinstalled.

1999 F40TLRX. Took my carbs apart and cleaned and did not count the turns for the pilot jets. Any way to know where they should be set? It seems to be running fine on the muffs with the jets bottomed out???
