Hey there, I am trying to replace the water pump on my 2005 Yamaha T8 outboard motor. I unscrewed the 4 screws and I also disconnected the shaft that runs on the back. The lower unit started sliding out, it came out 4 inches and it is now stuck. I can push it back up but it can't come out all the way. What am I missing here, I can't find any info on the web. Thank you in advance!

sorry, I was banned.
your problem is the T8 uses a stupid shaft seal.
this REQUIRES removing the jam nut from the lower shift shaft.
if you have pulled the lower shaft enough to disengage the shift cam it will now require propshaft removal to repair.

Thanks rodbolt17, do you mind telling me where that jam nut is located, I could not see any bolts left undone.??

when you undid the shift shaft, there should have been a barrle( long) nut and a jam nut to keep the other from moving once tightened up
