  • F225 upper mount question

so, there's a plastic "cap" over the head of the upper mount bolts - Yamaha refers to it as a "damper".

    What does it do?

does the mount actually flex so much under load that the bolt head hits the case?

I have a F90 with very similar upper mount design - but no plastic caps...

    myself?
I think someones brother in law sells plastic caps.

that bolt cannot move and if the mount flexed that far something would break.

      OK - thanks!

maybe it was the same engineer who decided a fine place for the thermostat housing bolts would be right behind the throttle bodies.....

I think he's talking about that rubber motor mount with the rectangular cover over it....and it would help absorb the thrust from the motor...

            Motor mount bolts

Thets a poor excuse to attempt to protect the bolt from corrosion.....myself pack that area with OMC triple guard grease
