lifting 90 hp motor

I have a 2004 90hp 2stroke. I have to remove the motor to install a new steering cable. Is the lifting ring on top of the power head sufficient to do this or is there another way to rig it? Does the motor need to be tilted at any particular angle to remove it?

I found that tilting the motor up about half way helped to balance the weight. That lifting ring did just fine when I took my motor off to install a jack plate. I used an engine hoist to do it, and things went very well.
