I have a good friend that is retired and he spends most of his days fishing for catfish on the Santee Cooper lakes. His 2014 70HP Yamaha four stroke would not crank about a month ago and so he took it to a dealer in Moncks Corner. The dealer indicated a bolt had come loose and ruined the motor. The dealer contacted Yamaha and they spent about a week determining they would honor their warranty. The dealer was informed that the powerhead would be shipped out the next day or so; however, a week later, still no parts. My buddy then called Yamaha and talked to their regional customer service rep and was informed that the parts would ship out next day. Another week passes and still no parts. My buddy again calls and is informed parts will ship that day. Another week passes and still no parts at the dealership. Four weeks now and not a single part has been shipped to the dealer.
Yesterday, my buddy was extremely frustrated and asked to speak to the customer service reps supervisor. The rep indicated he could not do that. My buddy then called every Yamaha number he could find on the internet looking for someone that would attend to this problem. Each Yamaha person he spoke to referred to him to the original rep and the original rep still would not allow him to speak to anyone else about the situation.
As of right now, my buddy has no idea when his powerhead will arrive as he has been lied to repeatedly by Yamaha.
My buddy bought a Yamaha because he thought it was a quality moror, but with less than 100 hours on it the motor crapped out. Yamaha then lied to him repeatedly about when the parts would arrive in Moncks Corner, South Carolina. He is so frustrated he simply does not know what to do.
Can anyone recommend any further recourse with Yamaha; they appear to have forgotten how to provide any measure of customer service - at least in the South East region.
Thanks,
Dan
