Need to clean out my water jackets in my 99 115 V4. I know I will need new head gaskets but I don't know what other gaskets or plates to pull. If anyone could help, it would be appreciated. Maybe a diagram or part number? Thanks guys.

some have had luck with a product called rydlyme .
do a search on it
there was a thread or two on this forum also about using it.
Head gaskets, head cover gaskets, and exhaust plate gaskets would be the ones you would need if not power head ones also if you break bolts and have to pull it off and apart

Besides the head gaskets, you should need the water jacket cover gasket that bolts to the head. In there and around the block water jacket(especially the lower jackets) seem to crystallize up the most with salt.
I don't know your model # but here's the general idea(parts # 2-head gasket and #5, cover gaskets). I'd do the cover gaskets too, part #10;

Your very welcome.
The last one we did, salt, on the lower jacket (V6, 200), was from the base of the jacket to the head (and in the water jackets in the head). I don't know how it ran as good as it did... Ran GREAT after that, no more alarms, WOT, no issues.

Little update. I pulled the heads and the water jacket gaskets. I don't see any sign of build up in the plate or around the cylinders. The problem I am having is an overheating alarm at WOT. Besides the new factory water pump and housing I installed, is there anything I might of missed? Maybe a blockage somewhere else?

Not sure about your engine but they were some members that the the water tube and O-ring gasket from the water pump up to the power head either rotted away(the tube) or the o-ring moved/went away loosing a bunch of water pressure from the water pump.
A peek at the parts fisch would show what you have..Scott

I ordered some t-stats that will be here with my other gaskets. I Figured I'd try all that before I went into the exhaust. My buddy had put a water impeller in for me and it appears he might of pinched a gasket. The problem was there before but the pressure could of been down with the gasker being pinched.

why not test some things instead of just throwing parts at it?
stats can be tested.
impellers are not the only thing that needs to be replaced in water pump, that is why they sell kits and the housing needs to be inspected to see if it needs to be replacedLast edited by 99yam40; 04-27-2015, 09:36 PM.

I am pretty new to repairing or even maintaining an outboard. A buddy showed me how to put the impeller in and did it in front of me. This time, I figured I would do it myself, double checking his work. I ordered everything, including the housing, plate, all o rings and gaskets. Pulling the housing back off, it looks like the oring got pinched. Hopefully that was the culprit. I plan on replacing the thermostats just because I will already be in there. I would rather know if there is build up for piece of mind.

Just a quick note, the impeller did go in in the correct direction? If the curvature of the "arms" are the wrong way, it will NOT correct itself.
And it doesn't take much, to loose just enough water pressure to cause issues(pinched 0-ring would help).
How'd the old impeller and cup look? Much of a set, any scoring on the cup to speak of?Scott
